Australian of the Year Awards

The Australian of the Year Awards honour remarkable Australians whose contributions have a profound impact on individuals, communities and society as a whole. Each recipient’s story, shaped by both challenges and achievements beyond their professional success, reflects a unique and inspiring life journey.

While the Awards celebrate the recipient’s achievements in the year of recognition, they also acknowledge their ongoing and lifelong dedication to the nation.

There are 4 categories:

  • Australian of the Year
  • Senior Australian of the Year
  • Young Australian of the Year
  • Australia’s Local Hero
