DELIVERING $413,737 FOR SAFER ROADS IN PEARCE
People living in Wanneroo will have a safer trip home thanks to the Albanese Government delivering on its commitment to improve road safety in the electorate of Pearce, with a significant investment of $413,737 announced today for the 2024–25 Black Spot Program.
The funding will target a known crash site in Wanneroo, focusing on enhancing safety at the intersection of Elliott Road and Wanneroo Road by the:
- Installation of a left-turn slip lane
- Construction of a seagull island
- Addition of a concrete path and kerbing
- Enhanced pedestrian facilities
These upgrades are designed to significantly reduce the risk of accidents and improve overall road safety for all users in the Pearce electorate.
Tracey Roberts MP, Federal Member for Pearce, welcomed the announcement, stating:
"I am very pleased to announce $413,737 in Black Spot Program funding for Wanneroo. This investment demonstrated the Albanese Labor Government's commitment to improving road safety in our Pearce electorate.
This funding, in partnership with the WA Labor Government, will upgrade the Elliot Road and Wanneroo Road intersection with a new slip lane, seagull island, and better pedestrian facilities. These improvements target known safety issues and will help prevent accidents.
As your Federal MP, I am always listening and focused on putting our community first. Safer roads mean peace of mind and I encourage residents to stay informed about these improvements and keep sharing their road safety concerns with my office."
The Black Spot Program funds a range of safety measures at locations where serious crashes have occurred, or are at risk of occurring.
The Australian Government has substantially increased Black Spot Program funding, which is progressively rising from $110 million to $150 million per year.
This is part of the Albanese Government's response to a worsening road toll, which also includes:
- Progressively doubling the Roads to Recovery funding from $500 million to $1 billion a year
- Delivering nationally aligned data sets to inform road safety decision making

Quotes attributable to Assistant Minister for Regional Development, Anthony Chisholm:
"We've locked in significant increases to both the Black Spot Funding Program and Roads to Recovery Program because we're committed to supporting local and state governments to make our local roads safer."
"Every death on our roads is a tragedy that could have been avoided. Funding the delivery of these upgrades means more money to prioritise safety on our local roads and also less pressure on rate payers.
"Local communities know where their most dangerous road locations are and their ability to nominate projects under this program and work with state and local experts in reviewing nominations is why this program is so successful."
