New cricket net flood lighting delivered for Wanneroo sporting community
Federal Member for Pearce, Tracey Roberts MP, has officially opened the new flood lighting at the Wanneroo cricket nets on Saturday 18 October 2025.
The Albanese Labor Government invested $120,000 toward the $155,438 project through the Investing in Our Communities program, with the City of Wanneroo contributing $35,438.
The project has delivered four lighting towers with LED lights to 100 lux around the existing cricket nets at Ariti Avenue, Wanneroo. The floodlighting extends training hours well into the evening, enabling the Wanneroo Cricket Club's 190 members to access the facilities after work and school.
The upgraded lighting improves safety for players and coaches while making the facilities accessible to a wider range of community members. The modern infrastructure will support increased participation, develop talent pathways for young cricketers at a regional level, and create new coaching and volunteer opportunities.
By extending the hours that facilities are available, the project helps meet growing demand for community sport in Wanneroo and provides residents with a sense of belonging through active recreation.
